Cassie Sasser told me this is how she fixes the ham steaks (we share a local pig sometimes) so I tried it and I wanted to share it with you. She said that was ok with her. I love that she takes “feeding Ger Sasser” as seriously as I do. Ger is a lucky man.
Whether you have a local pig in your freezer or buy some ham steaks, this is such an easy way to prepare a meal when you’re busy. Cassie used pineapple from a can and I happened to have fresh pineapple in the fridge, so either way will work.
I put the following ingredients into the Crock Pot:
Ham Steaks (the amount is up to you – anywhere in the 2-4 lb range will work)
fresh pineapple ( I used half a pineapple, cut into chunks – Cassie sometimes uses a can of pineapple – we both also poured in the juice)
1 cup water
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 heaping TBSP honey
sea salt
pepper
I put the Crock Pot on low for 8 hours.
We ate this with roasted purple potatoes and a salad. Perfect.
