We think that to be the best grass fed burgers, they need to be bacon burgers. So, we have two options to begin:
option 1 – cook bacon in oven for 15 minutes at 400 degrees on a large cookie sheet. Place cooked bacon on paper towel-covered plate. SAVE the bacon grease and put it in a large skillet to cook the burgers in.
option 2 – cook bacon in a large skillet until done. Place cooked bacon on paper towel-covered plate. LEAVE the bacon grease in the skillet.
Next, I put the following ingredients into a large mixing bowl:
2 lbs grass fed burger (I do 1 lb grass fed burger and 1 lb deer burger when I have it)
1 tsp Cherry Wood Smoked Sea Salt (salttraders.com)
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp dried mustard
1/2 tsp turmeric
freshly ground pepper, to taste
1 egg
I mixed this up with my hands and made 8 big patties. I cooked them in the skillet with bacon grease until done.
You can easily half this recipe OR just make 8 and count it as some prep for the upcoming week. They are fabulous layered with the bacon, some salsa and guacamole.
